The abstract:

A dynamic unorthodox way of approaching time

by Sebastian Kizito, Institute of Sociology, University of Opole intern

Time as a social phenomenon regulates different behaviour patterns and creates dynamic relations, both in the royal and worker science, which are the famous names of science and those who no one knows about, mostly craftsmen of science. Time creates diversities between what we consider to be humaine-natural, individual-community, physical and social, on an everyday basis. When we talk about the scientific world, in my opinion, the problem is that no matter which school of thought we are coming from, we fall in some very common traps. The first trap is that on the one hand we tend to use a dialectic approach towards our social analysis, it is let’s say within the safety zone of our social practices, when on the other hand, our societies have entered into a new era where we need new tools in order to understand our contemporary reality (Thesis, antithesis, synthesis- materialism). The second issue is, that our analysis might be entrapped in the non existent border lines of constructivism, therefore leaving us no raptures, to shape a broader approach of the phenomena we are analyzing. The reason is that we reach up to a point where everything is a result of our interpretation, so in this case, whatever happens to objects that are not interpreted by individuals, but still have a great effect on their lives, are noise. In other words, are interpretations, symbols and meanings able to suffice our daily life? Time as a phenomenon serves as a great example as a field that deals with different dimensions of such complex issues. Because it demonstrates how the actualization processes shed light on what was once possible and what has now emerged as real, whereas all the other possibilities remain in the dark, unknown to us, but yet affect our reality. So could it be that time is a dynamic open social system, an entity, an actor in our everyday lives?
